Quote of the Day

I detest what you write, but I would give my life to make it possible for you to continue to write.

-Voltaire

or as Mahmood suggested:

I detest what you say, but I would defend to death your right to say it.

-Voltaire

Ah, you translated Al-Noaimi's slug-line in today's Al-Waqt? Excellent, what he said is very true, however there is a better translation if you will allow me to share it with you:

Voltaire: I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

This is my favourite saying ever!

So it's Al-Noaimi's line? Well, I am not surprised and actually quite happy to think along some of his lines! I like your version better too! Wish I came across that one. It is something I strongly believe in and unfortunately find very lacking in Bahrain.

I must confess that although it is my favourite saying that I try to live by, I do get carried away sometimes and hear only my own opinion.

I'm glad that I have some vicious friends who would knock some sense into me (metaphorically of course!)

It doesn't matter what version you subscribe to, they both preach the same tenet which we should all try to live by.
